Story of the “Hawk”

The story of The Hawk began when a skinny kid from Ga joined the Navy and was sent to bootcamp. Back then there was only three places they could send you and being from Ga, I thought for sure I was headed to Orlando. It was right around Thanksgiving and starting to get a little chilly.

When the recruiter calls me up and says I’ll be going to Great Lakes, Illinois. Now I’m packed for Orlando, but what’s the difference? I had never been anywhere in my life, so I was ready to go.

We get to O’Hara airport, walking through the terminal and people keep saying “Man the Hawk is out today!” Now I’m saying to myself, “What kind of Hawk is still up North this time of year?” I can’t wait to see this bird.

And then I stepped outside the door and that giant “Hawk” swooped down and hit me with its cold sharp talons, ripping me to bones. I never knew there could be coldness like that.

I was in bootcamp for 8 weeks and never warmed up!

So 45 years later when I was coming up with names for my product, the only year round outdoor faucet protector on the market, UV and Freeze protection.

I figured the only thing that could fight that Winter Hawk was another Hawk!

Hence the name “The Hawk Outdoor Faucet Protector.”
